Fit For Your Own Garden Party

by admin on June 19, 2012

If you revelled in all the nostalgia of the recent Diamond Jubilee and would like to recreate that “up-to-date retro” look in your garden, then here’s a simple tip – make sure you maintain a lush lawn. Nothing screams British garden more than a well maintained patch of lawn.

Give your grass a wrap-around border filled with that quintessential British flower, the rose. In fact, why not try out the new Diamond Jubilee variety that was recently introduced at the Chelsea Flower Show. It’s fruity fragrant blooms are just perfect for the vibe you are trying to recreate. Other great choices for that British retro look include dahlias, garden mums and, of course, sweet peas which were favourites of keen gardeners back in the day. To finish off the look, simply revive any ageing garden furniture with a lick of paint – or more if it is required ( for advice on keeping your garden furniture looking its best, click here) – but be sure to use complimentary or neutral shades of paint so the lawn and shrubs you have chosen remain the centrepiece. It’s like stepping into a Famous Five novel!
